Justyn-Henry Malloy is at designated hitter and batting leadoff for the Tigers.

Kerry Carpenter is back in the lineup for the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night. The Tigers (14-9) play the San Diego Padres (16-7) at 6:40 p.m. at Comerica Park. Detroit won the series opener, 6-4, on Monday night.
