Farmers in Noida face police crackdown as they protest land compensation issues, leading to a call for a mahapanchayat demanding the release of detained protesters. The controversy stems from ongoing land disputes and compensation claims affecting local agricultural families.

A group of farmers from Punjab, led by Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), has called for a march towards Delhi on December 6. The group has been camping at Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana since February 13.

Protesting farmers continue their dharna at the Delhi-Noida border. Farmers from different parts of Uttar Pradesh demanding adequate compensation for their lands acquired by the government marched towards Delhi on Monday but were stopped at the Noida-Delhi border where they sat on a dharna.

Traffic movement remained slow on Tuesday as well due to barricading as part of the security set up at Delhi-Noida borders over the farmers' protest march towards the national capital that began on Monday.

The agitation, which began on November 25 with over 3,000 protesters from Gautam Buddh Nagar, Agra, Meerut and Bulandshahr, entered its eighth day on Monday.
