Lithuania has found no sign that the crash on Monday of a DHL cargo plane was caused by sabotage, and believes technical issues were a more likely explanation, officials said on Wednesday.

The Lithuanian airport authority identified the aircraft as a “DHL cargo plane flying from Leipzig, Germany, to Vilnius Airport.”

German leaders raised the possibility that a fiery cargo plane crash in Lithuania on Monday was the result of sabotage or hybrid warfare.

The black boxes from the DHL cargo plane which crashed in Lithuania on Monday have not yet been found, the head of the country's governmental National Crisis Management Center said on Tuesday.

Recovery work continued on Thursday after the crash of a cargo plane earlier this week in Lithuania. Emergency services continued to collect the wreckage of the Swiftair aircraft, which was travelling from the eastern German city of Leipzig to the Lithuanian capital Vilnius on behalf of logistics company DHL.

His statement follows earlier incidents, reported by The Wall Street Journal, at DHL logistics hubs in Leipzig and Birmingham, involving unconventional incendiary devices, which were linked to broader Russian sabotage efforts.
