Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Superintendent Mary Skipper officially announced on Tuesday that they plan to close three schools, including Excel High School in South Boston, at the end of the 2025-2026 school year.
Boston Public Schools to propose closures of several schools
The district announced plans to shutter the K-6 Dever Elementary in Dorchester as well as Excel High School in South Boston. Additional school closures are expected before 2030 as part of the district's long-term plan to close or consolidate under-enrolled schools.
