Vice President JD Vance’s security detail had an Ohio river’s water level raised last week to accommodate a kayaking trip he took with his family for his 41st birthday.

The Secret Service said the boats the agency uses for security are usually motorized and need deeper waters to operate.

The Army Corps of Engineers was told to change the outflow of an Ohio lake to “support the safe navigation” of the security detail, but the move raised questions about the potential exploitation of public infrastructure for personal use.
