All-Star starter Tarik Skubal won his first game since June and Javier Baez homered, doubled and knocked in four runs as the Detroit Tigers beat the Philadelphia Phillies and ace Zack Wheeler 7-5.

The Detroit Tigers hit four home runs and Tarik Skubal outdueled fellow ace Zack Wheeler in a 7-5 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park. The Tigers (65-47) and Phillies (62-48) have split the first two games of the series and will play the rubber match in a nationally televised game on Sunday night.

Those four pitches were all splitters as Duran finished out a Phillies comeback victory over the Tigers to take the series opener -- and regain first place in the National League East. In one of the most electrifying games of the year, Duran stole the show in his debut.

Duran discovered the signature pitch by accident during a bullpen session in 2018. This season, he’s thrown the pitch nearly 40% of the time and is holding opponents to a .221 average.
