Eknath Shinde had parted ways with Uddhav Thackeray, along with several Shiv Sena legislators, in 2022 to protest against his decision to ally with arch-rival Congress.

Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena wins 36 constituencies in Maharashtra polls, defeating Uddhav Thackeray's faction and solidifying its position.

The Maharashtra election results are out and it’s a thumping victory for the Mahayuti alliance of the BJP, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP. The win further cements Eknath Shinde’s place in Maharashtra politics.

Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) on Saturday refused to accept assembly election result and alleged a conspiracy behind the result.

On the other hand, the Uddhav Thackeray-led UBT has won 20 seats while the Congress is reduced to 16 and the NCP to 10 seats. It is followed by Samajwadi Party (2), Jan Surajya Shakti (2), Rashtriya Yuva Swabhimani Party (1), Rashtriya Samaj Paksha (1), AIMIM (1), CPI (M) (1), PWP (1), Rajarshi Shahu Vikas Aghadi (1) and Independents (2).
