No. 20 Texas A&M couldn’t keep up with Oregon down the stretch of an 80-70 loss in its opening matchup of the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas on Tuesday.

A&M is ranked 20th in both the USA Today Coaches Poll and the Associated Press Top 25. Oregon isn't ranked in either poll but pulled out a double-digit victory over the Aggies in its Players Era Festival opener.

Texas A&M bounced back from its season-opening loss to Notre Dame with seven straight wins that put it in prime position for a College Football Playoff bid entering November.

The Aggies are a defensive and rebounding nightmare for opponents. Texas A&M is currently allowing just 61.6 ppg on the season while blocking 5.6 shots per game. KenPom has the Aggies as the No. 17 team in the nation in terms of defensive rating, though a slow pace also has something to do with the low totals opponents are putting up.

The Wolverines are overmatched, but well-prepared, playing their third top-five team of the season in their version of this season’s championship game. Ohio State is 0-5 against the spread as a favorite of a touchdown or more against Michigan since 2013.
