Happy Gilmore is back on top. Adam Sandler’s long-gestating sequel “Happy Gilmore 2” teed off with big viewership numbers, ranking at No. 1 on the Netflix list of Top 10 English language movies. “Happy Gilmore 2” launched on the streamer on July 25.

Though I did enjoy some of the callbacks, jokes, silly references, and the show-stealing performance by a certain bad boy of golf, there was something about these homages that turned me off and took me out of the movie. In fact, I was quite annoyed…

"Happy Gilmore 2" has landed safely on the fairway and is now streaming on Netflix. With Adam Sandler, Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald and more reprising their memorable roles in this sequel, Rotten Tomatoes has given the movie a critic Tomatometer rating of 64% and an audience Popcornmeter score of 73%.

Happy Gilmore 2 is the funniest movie of the year so far by default, if only because no other movies really try to go for laugh-a-minute comedy like this any longer. The new Naked Gun movie will surely challenge it, but why can't the audiences of today get their own Happy Gilmores and Frank Drebins to cherish anew?

Social media users on X, formerly Twitter, gushed over Sandler’s touching easter egg dedicated to the late Disney star. Reps for Sandler and Netflix didn’t immediately respond to HuffPost’s requests for comment.
