Even as top Justice Department officials brokered an interview with a longtime associate of Jeffrey Epstein’s, they asked the Supreme Court to reject her appeal.

The Department of Justice on Monday urged the Supreme Court to turn away an appeal from Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence.

The justices, now on their summer recess, are expected in late September to consider whether to take up her appeal.
