Some popular acne creams are being recalled because the product may contain elevated levels of benzene, a chemical that causes cancer, the FDA said.
The FDA tested 95 products containing benzoyl peroxide, an ingredient widely used to treat acne that can form benzene as a byproduct. It found that six products could have more benzene than usual.
Posay, and Proactiv recalled benzoyl peroxide products that may contain elevated levels of a chemical linked to cancer.
