When two hikers took a long tumble off the Tahquitz Mountain Trail, it was the beginning of an epic ordeal for them and their rescuers.

Three lost hikers, including two young children, were rescued in the Santa Cruz Mountains late Sunday night, according to the CHP Golden Gate Division Air Operations.
