Ecuador’s most notorious drug kingpin has been extradited to the United States, a month after he was recaptured following a prison escape that sparked a wave of violence across the country.

E cuadorean gang leader José Adolfo Macías Villamar, also known as "Fito," will plead not guilty when he appears in federal court in New York later on Monday following his extradition last night, his attorney has said.
