The first snowfall of the season dumped a record 17.2 centimeters of snow in South Korea’s capital city Seoul on Wednesday, snarling traffic, grounding some flights with the weather bureau forecasting more bad weather.

At least five people have died after heavy snowfall blanketed South Korea for a second day. The snowfall was the third-heaviest in Seoul, the capital, since records began in 1907, the Yonhap news agency said,
