Scores of people poured into the lobby of Trump Tower in New York City on Thursday to protest the arrest and detention of Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil, whom the Trump administration aims to deport over his pro-Palestinian activism.

Donald Trump’s America has officially entered its “arrest first, justify later” phase. Protesters in red T-shirts chanted “Free Mahmoud!” as they packed the gilded lobby of Trump Tower demanding the release of Mahmoud Khalil.

Nearly 100 people were arrested after protesters gathered at Trump Tower in Manhattan Thursday to denounce the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian activist detained by ICE over his involvement with pro-Palestinian demonstrations at Columbia University.
