President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed a memorandum directing the federal government to prepare the US Naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to house tens of thousands of migrants.

Mexico’s president Claudia Sheinbaum has written to Google and told them not to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. Donald Trump signed an executive order demanding the name change within hours of taking office.

Sheinbaum presented a letter addressed to Google in which her government argues the US cannot unilaterally change the name of a body of water which it shares with Cuba and Mexico.

The Associated Press, which provides news around the world to multiple audiences, will refer to the Gulf of Mexico by its original name, which it has carried for 400 years, while acknowledging the

Google Maps has said it will rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America after Donald Trump ordered the change.

"As directed by the President, the Gulf of Mexico will now officially be known as the Gulf of America," the Interior Department stated in a statement last week. Google responded by noting that the change complies with its longstanding policy of aligning map labeling with updates in official government databases.

Google will show Gulf of Mexico as "Gulf of America" and Alaska's Denali as "Mount McKinley" in the United States once the U.S. government has officially updated to the U.S. Geographic Names Information System.

Google says it will take its cue from the U.S. government if it has to change the names of the Gulf of Mexico and Denali on its Maps service.

The restaurant closed last month after an electrical fire, but it's also facing an eviction lawsuit. Google and OpenTable list the location as "permanently closed" and its phone line has been disconnected.
