Dozens of tornados ripped through Midwestern states this weekend, causing millions of dollars in damage and multiple deaths.
Tornadoes that swept through Kentucky, Missouri and Virginia killed more than two dozen people, destroyed homes and left thousands without power as residents began clearing widespread storm damage.
The Context The outbreak in Kansas follows a devastating storm system that tore through parts of the U.S. over the weekend, resulting in at least 25 fatalities, CNN reported. Kentucky accounted for 18 of those deaths.
Around 30 million Americans may see storms producing tornadoes, strong winds, large hail and flash flooding on Tuesday, including those already dealing with damage from previous tornadoes over the weekend.
Kansas City is getting hit by winds up to 80 MPH and half-dollar-sized hail that could damage roofs or cars. The area is also in danger of flash flooding, as thunderstorms batter the Midwest and Great Plains.
