SACRAMENTO — DeMar DeRozan scored 32 points, Domantas Sabonis had 26 points and 18 rebounds and the Sacramento Kings overcame an 18-point deficit to beat the Golden State Warriors 123-117 on Wednesday night.
Derrick Jones Jr. scored a career-high 29 points, 17 in the first quarter, to lead the Clippers. Kevin Porter Jr. added a season-high 26 and Amir Coffey had 24. LA’s Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, Norman Powell and Ivica Zubac were all sidelined.
DeRozan scored 17 points in the third quarter as the Kings outscored the Warriors 37-20 to tie the game. Sacramento shot 57.7% from the field while holding Golden State to 40%. The Kings forced eight turnovers in the third, resulting in a 13-0 advantage in points off turnovers.
The news out of Sacramento regarding the Kings opening up trade talks for De’Aaron Fox has been surprising and fast in progression. It’s an even more interesting turn of events considering the Kings much-improved play of late following Mike Brown’s departure and Doug Christie‘s promotion.
The Sacramento Kings have managed to catch their stride since promoting Doug Christie. After going 13-18 with Mike Brown, a two-time Coach of the Year, they’re 11-4 under the first year head coach.
The only first-round pick the Cavs can trade is in 2031. That leaves them with few future assets that can be moved for a big swing. Jaylon Tyson is the only young player on the roster who could conceivably be moved and have value as a young prospect for other teams.
