SHEBOYGAN – Since the 1860s, there has always been some sort of lodging establishment at North Eighth and Ontario Avenue, the form of which has evolved over time. Back in the 1860s, the Merchants Hotel stood at that corner, where it was replaced in the 1880s by the St. Charles Hotel.
