The Metropolitan Police has launched an investigation after the body of a newborn baby was found inside a black Marks and Spencer bag in a church in London.

Police have urged the mother of a newborn baby boy, who was found dead inside a Marks & Spencer bag outside a church in west London, to come forward. A council refuse worker made the discovery after spotting the black bag with avocados on it outside All Saints’ Church, off Talbot Road in Notting Hill, at 12.46pm on Tuesday afternoon.

The body of a newborn baby has been found in west London, the Metropolitan Police has said. Officers were called at 12:46 GMT on Tuesday to Powis Gardens in Notting Hill following a report that the body of a baby had been found in a bag left outside All Saints Church.
