YR4 continues to keep us on our toes as astronomers work to determine its potential threat to our planet. The latest update is good news because, according to NASA, the chances of a 2032 Earth impact have dropped.

An asteroid between about 130 and 300 ft. (40 and 90 meters) in diameter has been given a 2.3% chance of it hitting Earth on Dec. 22, 2032.

Astronomers are closely monitoring asteroid 2024 YR4, which once had the highest recorded impact probability for its size. Current estimates place its chance of hitting Earth at 1.5% in 2032, with a smaller risk for the Moon.
