Elon Musk's endorsement of Germany's far-right AfD party ahead of the snap elections has sparked controversy, with government officials accusing him of foreign interference.

Musk made the statement on X in response to news reports that said SPD nominates Olaf Scholz for German Chancellor again and June 24 report that said that a woman convicted of "offending" migrant gang rapists receives longer prison sentence than the rapists.

"We have the freedom of speech in Europe and in Germany. Everyone can say what he wants, even if he is a billionaire. And what we do not accept is if this is supporting extreme-right positions," Scholz said in Davos when asked about the incident.
