The Cleveland Guardians swung a couple of big trades on Tuesday, sending second baseman Andres Gimenez to the Toronto Blue Jays and then flipping first basemen Spencer Horwitz to the Pittsburgh Pirates for pitcher Luis Ortiz and two prospects.

Andres Gimenez was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for Spencer Horwitz, who was in turn dealt to the Pirates for three pitchers.

Toronto will have a $23 million option to retain Gimenez for 2030. Toronto will be paying all of the remaining contract. 1- The Guardians likely felt Gimenez’ remaining contract value was far more than they wanted to invest in a middle-infielder.
