The group of 15 representatives from NY-21’s 15 counties unanimously chose Blake Gendebien, a dairy farmer from St. Lawrence County, as the presumptive Democratic nominee.

Democratic chairs in the 15-county district on Tuesday agreed to put the 48-year-old Lisbon man on the ballot line once Gov. Kathy Hochul calls a special election.

The chairs of the Democratic Party representing New York's 21st Congressional District have chosen their candidate to run for Rep. Elise Stefanik's seat in a potential special election. ALBANY — Democratic leaders have selected dairy farmer Blake Gendebien to run in the special election for New York’s 21st Congressional seat — although when that election will take place is increasingly unclear.

The 15 Democratic county chairs in New York’s 21st district have selected their candidate for a special election to fill the seat being vacated by Republican Elise Stefanik. Stefanik, who has represented the sprawling district since 2015,
