A "miracle" baby girl has become the first child in the UK to be born to a mother using a donated womb. The baby's mum, Grace Davidson, 36, was born without a functioning uterus, and received her sister's womb in 2023 – in what was then the UK's only successful womb transplant.

After years of heartbreak and longing, Grace Davidson wept as she cradled her newborn daughter, Amy, in her arms. The newborn, weighing 2,04kg and recently delivered by C-section in a London hospital, finally fulfilled Grace and husband Angus' dream – while making history as the UK's first baby born after a successful womb transplant.

It was the first time the procedure had taken place in the UK. The birth will give hope to thousands of women born without a womb.
