Louisiana State Police are currently investigating the death of an inmate at the Ascension Parish Jail, officials said on Sunday, Dec. 1.

The identity of the inmate who died has not been released, nor have any further details surrounding the circumstances of the death.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office identified the inmate who died at the parish jail on Sunday, Dec. 1. APSO said the inmate who passed away was Darvin Mumphrey, 40, of Donaldsonville. Deputies said the inmate’s cause of death is pending an autopsy.
