Rutgers knows its postseason opponent but not necessarily its roster just yet. Like most teams in the new era of college football, Rutgers will be sorting out who will be suiting up for its showdown against Kansas State in the Rate Bowl.

Schiano said Sunday all of that is being worked out. Rutgers was in a similar situation for its last-second Gator Bowl appearance in 2021. The team had already parted ways with former defensive coordinator Robb Smith. Schiano was the DC for the bowl game, but it’s unclear if that situation will play out again this time around.

The Rate Bowl could offer valuable chances to several young Rutgers football players hoping to make an impression heading into the offseason and 2025.
