Royal Ascot is upon us again as one of the signature events on the horse racing calendar takes centre stage this week.250,000 spectators are expected to flock into the grandstands across the five days in Berkshire.

Thousands of people have gathered for the first day of the glamourous Royal Ascot meeting. More than 250,000 people are expected at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire over this week, including King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The event was founded by Queen Anne in 1711 and is now well known as a key social occasion as well as a sporting event.

Royal Ascot gets rolling Tuesday after a weekend of global racing that included "Win and You're In" events for the Breeders' Cup, Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and W.S. Cox Plate.
