Fans from over 130 countries have purchased nearly 1.5 million tickets for the Club World Cup that kicked off last weekend in its newly expanded format across the United States, FIFA said on Tuesday.

Bayern Munich clobbered an amateur team in the Club World Cup, setting a new all-time record in FIFA competitions.

The expanded edition of the Club World Cup will kick off in Miami as Lionel Messi leads Inter Miami against Egyptian side Al Ahly. In total, 32 teams will all be vying for the right to be called the best team in the world as the tournament gets underway in the United States.
