In a separate move on Tuesday, China’s Commerce Ministry said that it would tighten control of exports of tungsten, tellurium, bismuth, molybdenum and indium products. The controls didn’t single out exports to any particular country.

In a move that escalates the ongoing trade war, China has revealed stringent export restrictions on five more critical metals.

China dominates the supply chain for the three metals and mines or refines between half and 90% of global supply of those minerals. In December 2023, China banned the export of technology to make rare earth magnets, adding it to an existing ban on technology to extract and separate the critical materials.
