Delhi Capitals co-owner disclosed that the franchise made every effort to keep Rishabh Pant before the IPL 2025 mega auction, but differences in views on team operations led to his departure.

Parth Jindal, the Delhi Capitals's co-owner, has revealed that star batter Rishabh Pant dreams of captaining the Indian cricket team. He made the revelation during an interview with ESPNcricinfo after the recently-concluded 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction.

While Delhi Capitals did not retain Rishabh Pant, Jindal and Co. went up till the Rs 20.75 crore mark to use the RTM for him before Lucknow Super Giants made a humongous lift to Rs 27 crore and snapped up the bid.

Rishabh Pant was part of the Delhi Capitals for nine years from 2016 onwards. Pant parted ways with the Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction and was then roped in by Lucknow Super Giants at the bidding war.

Rishabh Pant's departure from Delhi Capitals was over the captaincy disagreement for the IPL 2025 season. The Indian wicketkeeper had it clear that he want to become India captain eventually.

Parth Jindal admitted that Rishabh Pant's decision to leave Delhi Capitals was “devastating” for him but added that neither money nor captaincy was the issue.

The batter, however, went on to become the costliest buy in the IPL history after being acquired by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 27 crore ($3.21 million).
