The government of Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra was hanging by a thread on Thursday following the withdrawal of a major coalition partner, building pressure on her to resign after just 10 months in power.

Thailand’s government faces potential collapse after Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s leaked phone call unleashed fresh political turmoil, with the leader now facing calls to resign as she grapples with the exit of the second-biggest party in her coalition.

Paetongtarn appeared to dismiss a Thai military commander in the 17-minute call shared by Hun Sen on Facebook on Wednesday. She said the officer "just wanted to look cool and said things that are not useful".
