Appointed by President Donald Trump, Alice Marie Johnson said she will step down from her position as CEO of her Memphis-based nonprofit, Taking Action For Good, in her new role as 'pardon czar'.

Alice Johnson, who served time in an Aliceville prison, was named the nation's first 'Pardon Czar' by President Donald Trump.

Johnson, now 69, was facing life in prison without the possibility of parole for being a first-time nonviolent drug offender.

The slain suspect, who was from the city of Hobart, was granted a pardon from the president last week that wiped away a misdemeanor charge tied to his involvement in the Capitol riot.
