The bill would require tech companies to take down nonconsensual intimate imagery within 48 hours and it creates a felony for sharing the images.

Texas, passed the Senate with no recorded opposition and must get House action before Congress adjourns this month.

The bill was created to stop what is called deepfakes, AI-generated explicit images of people, posted on social media. The revenge porn issue impacted a Fort Worth teen, and it’s happened to others around the country.

A bill targeting “revenge porn” has won support from both parties in the U.S. Senate. Texas Republican Ted Cruz introduced the bill along with Minnesota Democrat Amy Klobuchar.
