Feb 10, 2022 · I can Right-Click on the part in question (a weld cap), then select "External References". This SHOULD be where it can be edited. It is even implied by the Lock button which PREVENTS reference editing until unlocked. But if I select on the reference in the "Part" field the filepath is not editable.

Jun 11, 2020 · In SOLIDWORKS go to File> Open, browse to the assembly or drawing in question and select it (do not open yet). Click “References”. Double click on the part with the incorrect reference path, browse to the correct file and click “open”.

You can replace broken sketch relations with sketch relations that do not reference the assembly. You can select the top-level assembly or a subassembly and list all components within its hierarchy that contain external references.

You can repair a broken reference by replacing it with a reference to another file from the vault or a reference to a file that is outside the vault. For example, you may not be able to locate a broken reference in the vault by using Find File .
